When I was a kid, I discovered our school had a piano. It was in a windowless little room in one of the oldest buildings. I started wagging house period in the mornings, to sneak in and bang away at the piano. I didn't want to take formal lessons, so to teach myself to play, I wrote these twelve pieces, one for each of the minor keys.
